Trump's words

Listen to Trump’s words, in cabinet meetings, in news conferences, with world leaders, in answers to questions. No matter how complex the circumstance or the question, they are simplistic, repetitive and clichéd. For example, his answer to what his policy for global engagement: “…strength and peace…” Any of us could say that much with no personal expertise at all.

When he gave his retraction to the Helsinki blunder the other day, he had to read it…to read it. When he consoles the nation after a tragedy, he has to read his statement. No feeling, compassion or credibility.

How can people not see through this? Are their expectations so low for their own President? How do we see the emptiness that just a little critical thinking would reveal?
