In the time of #MeToo

In this time of #MeToo, it seems important to me to try to answer this question: How do you raise a boy to not be a dickhead?

In trying to answer, I have come up with a pre-puberty checklist:
--Has the boy lived with a good example of manly behavior?
--Has the boy learned to be empathetic?
--Has the boy been exposed to an example of healthy love?
--Has the boy learned self-discipline?

--Does the boy have an appropriate understanding of human sexuality?

America

Was America not great when we were a respected world leader?
Was America not great when we were a compassionate nation?
Was America not great when the Presidency had competence and integrity?
Was America not great when it cared about clean air and water?
Was American not great when it acted on the science of climate change?
Was America not great when it believed that wealth was not the measure of all things?
Was America not great when it worked for tolerance and equality.
Was America not great when it acted to protect its parklands?

Who is America great for now?

Perspective

The important thing is to have the right perspective. From the right perspective the moon can balance in the tip of a blade of grass. That’s why the creative mind is an essential thing.

men above and men below

Men above and men below

Men above are doctors, Congressmen, entertainers, CEOs, lawyers, professors, Hollywood moguls, Presidents, artists, musicians and regular guys.

Men below struggle with their libidos and machismo impulses; and many succumb. For those that succumb, their pesky penises and their fragile egos must be satisfied, no matter the consequences for themselves or others.

We can’t just shrug this off as the age-old consequences of the nature of men. No, we have to believe there are solutions in the socialization, above and below.

Modern life

I started my day with a Starbucks chocolate mocha frappe latte decaf half caf and a macadamia and boysenberry scone. Then off to the office, where I spent an exhausting day making important decisions that only I can make.

Lunch was a salmon and avocado flatbread pizza with a glass of the house Chardonnay. Then back to work for more of the same, including a 3-way business call between our offices in Gudjarat and Caracas.

I left the office a little after 6, tired and brain dead. But my Kundalini yoga class refreshed me somewhat. When I got home I called for a gourmet dinner to be delivered to me. I ate it with relish, and sat for while streaming some Afropop. A little weed was in order, so I called out for that too.

I had learned in the NY Times that I could purchase an at-home phone-activated test to my sperm count. After I got the result, I wrote a note to myself to ask the doctor about a testosterone patch.

A bit of anxiety there, so a couple of Ambien, and I was off to sleep to ready myself for just another routine day… tomorrow.

Deficit

Forget the $1 trillion US economic deficit. What we need to worry about is
the awe-deficit
the gratitude deficit

the humility deficit.

Q

Q: Why are men so competitive?

A: Because from the start, there are 300,000,000 sperm all racing for the prize.
