BEAUTY: Is measured by soft, silky hair, perfect skin, white
teeth, a youthful look and designer clothes. Forget inner beauty.
SUCCESS: Is measured by job status, educational level,
salary and titles. Forget service, humanity, sacrifice and changing the lives
of others.
ACCOMPLISHMENT: Is measured by celebrity, tweet followers,
going viral, possessions and money. Forget intelligence, creativity,
spirituality.
SELF-WORTH: Is measured by me-ness, my possessions and my
image. Forget integrity, compassion and generosity.
HEROES: Are measured by power, wealth, fame and
media-created personas. Forget courage, humility and the struggle to make the
world better.
We lust after what is impossible to achieve and fail to find
what we need. We go after what is temporal and fail to find what is eternal.
