If you think art is only an object, you’ll look for it in
places like museums, galleries, homes and office buildings. But art is a lot
more. It’s an action, a social agent, a cultural signifier, a spontaneous act,
and intervention, a personal interaction, a public service, a defiance and
more.
This is why contemporary art is elusive. It’s so everywhere,
it often can’t be seen for what it is. It doesn’t fit stereotypes, and it doesn’t
always make sense. It doesn’t always behave itself, and doesn’t let you off the
hook.
But it’s in it for the long run. It really cares. And it
wants to sit down and have a serious talk with you.
