God the Father, Allah, Zeus, Odin, Shiva, Yahweh and the
Buddha meet in a bar. They decided they needed to talk about what in the hell was
going on with human beings. I, of course, was not there, but I heard they were
all happy with the way the universe was evolving, with all its complexity and
beauty and how humans were figuring it out. They were surprised that humans had
not picked up more avidly on the idea of love. They did share a few jokes about
St. Peter and the Heavenly Gate and about rounding up enough virgins for all
the martyrs. They affirmed that they were all brothers of the One. Despite
their disappointment with humans, they did admit that humans could be funny,
entertaining, conscientious, brilliant, loving, spiritual, resourceful,
creative and at times incredibly stupid. Amen.
