Both

 Every young person will write a poem and make a drawing they are proud of. But then, after that, no one tells them that these skills open eyes to look inward and outward both. No one tells them that these are vehicles of language. No one encourages them to keep at these skills, which can help them unlock the world. Those skills will be pushed to the edge of their education and sadly not go past the refrigerator door.
