Nowadays religion and religious practice seem to offer little guidance and direction to many. For some reason, this made me think of ancestor worship, which is a part of many religious and spiritual practices.
I never fully understood ancestor worship, but it makes more sense to me now. The ancestors are a source of guidance and are always present. They offer love and wisdom as they did in life. They are the comfort in death.
Many are distant from God these days, and we have invented pre-ancestor warehouses called nursing homes, where their wisdom sits unused.
