Artists and craftsmen, look at your hands. Ask them what they taught you and what you taught them. Ask them what they remember of touch, measure, strength, rhythm and communication. Then imagine what happens when the computer intrudes with its mouse, tools and pads. The computer becomes the brain, and for all its capacities, dumbs down the hand. Keep the hand alive in the touch of paper, wood, clay, metal and all the tactile surfaces.
