Years ago, I hung a show in which text cards could be taken
by gallery visitors. One card said, “What delusions do you live by?”
In some ways all of us live by some form of delusion, one
that makes life orderly or comfortable or manageable. But some delusions can root themselves so deep
that they become foundational beliefs.
This is where truth is so important. Truth, even a
provisional truth, is gold. It needs to be mined and refined and proves to be
incorruptible.
Not recognizing that beliefs are delusions when they are
delusions is harming America right now.
