Evolution gave us the drive of self-preservation and the preservation of the species. It also gave us the capacity to function in the complex and fragile web of creation so as to preserve all life. The human brain instinctively recognizes the significance and beauty of this. The conscious human brain creates good and evil and struggles to make sense of the spiritual yearning which won’t let go of us.
We have long become comfortable with killing one another and killing other species. Now we have to decide whether we are comfortable killing our own species.
