When I was growing up, decency and character were valued and expected. They were durable and worthy qualities. They didn’t demand perfection or excellence. They understood that human beings were flawed and could fail. But their goal was to do the right thing and stand for something.
Sadly, these two qualities are not talked about much these days. They have been bumped by concern for status, material gain and number of followers. I’d welcome back decency and character any day.
