First day of kindergarten

First-day-of-kindergarten pictures are popping up on Facebook. Parents are proud and teary-eyed. This is the love of watching their children grow.

But it’s also the love of letting go, which is maybe the hardest of all. The new bike, then summer camp, then the first car, then college. Every step is a loving step of saying goodbye.

After all, they were never really yours anyway.
