Words can’t fill art that’s empty. Words can’t speak for art
that has little to say. But words can excavate art. Words can help the artist
see his own work. Words can educate a viewer’s eye. Words can make art surprise
itself. Words can join with art to tell a story. Words can speak the art in a
parallel language. Words can thank art for enhancing them. Words can explain
why art misbehaves. Words can put art in its place. There’s lots that words can
do. Words can even be art.
