I don't get it

This is what I don’t get. Put all issues of morality aside. Getting rid of racism and inequality in education and life opportunity results in more people with better jobs, higher taxable incomes and more productivity. This is more money in government coffers and less government debt. It means fewer people on welfare and fewer people incarcerated, which would save a great deal of money now spent on taking care of people who could otherwise take of themselves. This would reduce costs for policing and security, among other things.

Now add back the moral dimension. Wouldn’t a more equitable and stable society be good for everyone? So why is it so hard to get there?
