Spirit

In the West, we are living in an increasingly secular world, strongly materialistic and very sexualized. Though religion can hold the key to transforming the world, organized religions are too calcified, backward looking and lacking in meaningful rituals. Organized religions can’t respond to the pace and complexity of contemporary times because they must drag centuries of dogma and conflict with them.

We just have to look at the world and know it is in trauma and chaos. What then can we hope for? I believe it’s personal spirituality. I believe we all have a spiritual seed within us that must be nurtured and opened in our lives, a seed which organized religion has not always been able to release.

All the major religions have a core belief in oneness, love and compassion. But this doesn’t require a belief in a higher power. Only a belief in a higher dimension of the human being achieved by effort and commitment growing out of a personal spirituality.
