Trump wants to eliminate funding for Public Broadcasting, the NEA and the NEH. The current funding is miniscule as it is. This is not an act of money saving, but a blatant political act.
Clearly it is time for artists to leave the comfort of their studios and the protection of the white cube and go out into the streets. They can’t wait for the public to come to them; they must go to the public. Artists must take charge, make the case for the importance of what they do, demonstrate their value to society and culture.
Artists must become evangelists, educators, advocates, acativists. The art world must become the whole world.
