I offer you an authentic piece of me

You offer me an authentic piece of you

This is the first step to saying we are human

 

I seek more authentic parts of you

You seek more authentic parts of me.

This is the first step to being in each other’s lives

 

I take some of your pain away

You take some of my pain away

This is the first step to showing we are one another

 

I say “I love you” and I really mean it

You say “I love you” and you really mean it

This is oneness pure and simple.

 

 

Nothing lasts forever

But some things linger

Everything must die

But we can invent heaven

Memories will fade

But they turn into dreams

The universe has not decided

But maybe our atoms will recall
