Metaphor

When we try to find meaning in the world, we use metaphor to mine the things around us. The atom is a planetary system. The rose means love. The lion is courage. The cave is the underworld. In this way, we become part of the world, and the world becomes part of us. Metaphor expands to narrative in legend and myth. And we gain stability and comfort in being. In this context, even God is metaphor.
