Iceland in the clouds
Iceland is alive in its clouds. The clouds are as massive as the lava mountains and mimic the mountains’ rolling and jagged shapes. The clouds are as white as the glaciers atop Hekla. The cream-colored clouds are as soft as the wool of the sheep who graze freely over the hills. The heavy gray clouds are winter and the translucent blue skies are the summer. The shadows of the clouds shape the mountains and praise the subtle greens and browns of their slopes. At sunset flecks of clouds sing with the reds and purples of lupine and other mountain flowers. At sunset the clouds are harbingers of gray ash and fiery red of a volcanic eruption. Clouds move with the power of waterfalls and the misty explosion of geysers. All the magic of Iceland is right there, in the clouds.
