Despots

History is full of them--mostly men. Because of who they are, wars ravage their people, their people starve and struggle to survive, having no quality of life.

They emerge on all the continents thru time. In Syria, Latin America, Asia and Africa they are thugs leading thugs. Their power trickles down to those whose loyalty can be bought.

But what motivates these despots? How many women, how much property, how much wealth do they need? Can they be such empty human beings that no quality of wealth can fill them up? What motivates them and prepares them for this life path? What is the fertile ground our of which they grow?

The appeal of power is great. Basking in the light of power is seductive. Celebrity at any cost is a phenomenon we see often. Using power for good takes character and moral fiber.

Can individuals like this be stopped before they become so powerful instead of punishing them after they have created such devastation?
