Let Me Love Thee
Let me hold thee in my arms
Tight as the double strands of life,
Becoming one as if that were
The single-minded end of evolution.
Let me kiss thee deftly
Exchanging breath, one-to-one
As if we were tree and air,
Eternal cycling of respiration.
Let me whisper the beauty
That all creatures know
But that we speak,
As if we are the voice of all of life.
Let me love thee
As if that were the sole purpose
For which God made me
In this union of grace.
